Make a crow mask using craft supplies.
If you are going to dress up as a crow for a school play, costume party or Halloween, you can make the costume more realistic by wearing a crow mask. A crow mask can be expensive to buy and time-consuming to find at a costume store. Save money and time by making your own crow mask using basic craft supplies.
Instructions
1. Cut a triangle from cardboard, and bend the triangle in half to resemble a beak.
2. Tape the beak onto the front of the blank mask using masking tape. Position the beak so that it is place over the nose piece of the mask.
3. Combine ½ cup of flour, ¼ cup of salt and 1 cup of water in a bowl. Stir the mixture for 1 minute with a spoon to combine the ingredients completely.
4. Cut newspaper into strips that each measure 1-by-4 inches. Dip the newspaper strips into the paper mache mixture, and drape the coated strips onto the blank mask. Cover the mask with four layers of paper mache strips. You do not need to let the strips dry in between each layer. Once all of the layers have been applied, let the mask dry for 4 hours.
5. Paint the mask using black acrylic paint, then sprinkle clear glitter over the wet paint. Allow the paint to dry for 30 minutes, then shake off the excess glitter.
6. Squeeze a line of tacky glue around the perimeter of the crow mask, and place black feathers onto the glue. Position the feathers so that they stick out around the mask. Repeat to cover the mask with as many feathers as you like, then allow the glue to dry for 30 minutes.
7. Paint a layer of clear acrylic glaze over the beak of the crow mask, and allow it to dry for 30 minutes. This will make the beak look shiny and glossy like a real crow.
