Rent Tables For Any Wedding

If your reception venue does not have enough tables to accommodate your wedding guests, you'll need to rent tables from a party supply service. With a little bit of time and research, you can find an affordable, efficient rental company. Instead of panicking over adding one more item to your wedding to-do list, consider delegating the table rental task to a friend or family member.

Instructions

1. Add up the number of guests you're expecting at the wedding gala. If you are still waiting for RSVPs, estimate 15 to 25 percent higher to ensure that you'll have enough seating space. You'll have a chance to confirm table numbers closer to the big day.

2. Ask friends and family for the name of a party rental company, or inquire among the other wedding professionals you are working with. Your photographer or caterer may have experience with a rental company, and you may even get a discount for renting through someone in their business network.

3. Search for a list of rental companies online at RentalHQ.com (see Resources below). The website also provides helpful information about table arrangements, such as suggested measurements for chair and passage aisles.

4. Call around or browse websites of several party rental companies to see what table sizes and shapes they offer. Ask about prices to get a rough idea of what you'll need to budget for your table rental.

5. Find out how many tables you'll need to accommodate your guest numbers. Measure your reception area to ensure it will comfortably hold the tables while allowing plenty of aisle room for people to walk or mingle.

6. Determine, based upon the configuration of your reception hall and your personal preference, whether you want to rent round or oblong tables or a combination of both. Some rental companies even offer specialty designs like heart- and serpentine-shaped tables.

7. Select tables based upon your reception menu. If you'll be providing your guests with dinner, plan to rent banquet tables. If your wedding is a more informal affair with drinks, hors d'oeuvres and cake, smaller cocktail tables or raised bar tables may be more appropriate.

8. Look at your guest list specifics. If you have lots of children attending, rent 1 or 2 children's tables. Most rental companies offer these height-adjustable table options for younger guests.

9. Inquire about whether the company offers table linen rentals, and whether setup is included in the price. Even if you have to pay more, it may be worth it to have the tables arranged for you prior to the caterer and florist's arrival.

10. Confirm your table rental numbers 3 to 4 weeks before your event. Go over your contract at that time, making sure you understand whether the company provides setup and tear-down services and whether they'll be providing table coverings, chairs or other accessories.
