Make a glamorous veil hat for the classic vintage look.
The vintage veil hat is making a comeback. Perfect for special occasions like weddings and proms, a vintage birdcage veil can be designed to suit any outfit. You will need some Russian veiling, which comes in a number of widths and colors and can be purchased from a fabric or bridal supply store. Add a touch of pizazz with plastic flowers or feathers to accentuate the look. The veil hat works best with short hair or an updo hairstyle.
Instructions
1. Lay the veil out on your work surface lengthwise. Use the scissors to cut off the top corners so that the top looks like a trapezoid.
2. Thread the needle. Starting at the bottom left hand corner, sew through the veil all the way around to the bottom right corner, gathering the veil as you go.
3. Tie off the thread. Attach the veil to the comb using clear adhesive. Use the same adhesive to cover the gathered veil and comb with plastic flowers or feathers.
