Detail Within A Vehicle

Detail the Inside of a Car

When people clean their cars they will usually run a vacuum over the interior and clean the windows. But when someone sets out to detail the interior of a car, there is much more that goes into it than a no-streak window cleaning solution. Detailing the interior of your car means tending to every possible detail and working hard to make your car look almost brand new. In addition to making your car look great, detailing can also help prolong the life of your car by removing the dirt and grime that ages car interiors.

Instructions

1. Remove all of the floor mats from your car, anything hanging from the rear view mirror and any seat coverings. Throw out all of the trash in your car and empty out all of the ashtrays. Take out the baby's safety seat and remove everything from the dashboard.

2. Vacuum everything in your car from the seats to the rugs. Use a plastic putty knife to carefully loosen anything that may be trapped in the seams of your car, and then vacuum the debris.

3. Use stain remover to eliminate any stains on the fabric. Make sure the cleaner you use matches the fabric, either upholstery or leather.

4. Mix one cup of oil soap with a gallon of warm water and then scrub down the dash, the doors and all around the interior of the car with a sponge. Be sure to clean everywhere, including behind the rear view mirror and the area near your back window. Clean the car door coverings and the runners along the bottom of the car door openings as well. Wipe dry with a towel.

5. Apply a coat of car interior protectant to the areas that you just washed. Spray the material into a dry towel first, and then apply it to the car interior.

6. Clean the windows thoroughly with an ammonia-based window cleaner.

7. Vacuum the floor mats and seat coverings before replacing them. If the floor mats are not fabric, scrub them with the soapy water and add a coat of protectant to them.
