Cut your hair in sexy feathered layers.
Styling your weave in a feathered layered cut is a sexy way to pay homage to the 1970's styles with sass. By adding hair extensions to your hair, you can create thicker, longer hair to give the layers depth. You can cut your layers within your bangs to frame your face or all over for thick volume.
Instructions
1. Part your hair in two-inch sections and leave out the hair that you plan to cut layers into such as your bangs and the front of your hair. Pick up the first section and spray lightly with water from the spray bottle. Comb the section straight in preparation for cutting.
2. Hold your hair shaping razor at the length where you want your first layer to begin; at the bang is usually right around cheek level. Hold the razor at a 45-degree angle. Pull your hair away from your face and hold tight so there is no flexibility in the hair. Lightly razor cut your layers, moving the razor in a diagonal line from the front where your top layer will be down to the bottom of the hair close to your hand.
3. Comb hair straight to get rid of cut hair interlocked within your layer. Flat iron the first cut layer, bending the curl away from your face instead of towards it. Iron the entire piece of hair from top to bottom. Comb the first piece back as a checkpoint to see how deep you've cut the layer and if you need to cut more.
4. Pick up the next section to be cut if satisfied with the first piece, remembering to cut in a wide diagonal line for longer layers and shorter diagonal lines for choppy layers. Repeat this layering technique. Lower the level of your top cut the further away from your face you go so that your layers will always be in a diagonal pattern when finished. Cut all of your sectioned hair into layers.
5. Flat iron or curl pieces using the reverse "flip" curl mentioned above. Curling the hair backwards helps to further emphasize the drama of the feathering. Flat iron the non-layered hair straight with a slight bend at the base.
6. Recurl layers in the front of your hair as desired and so they are uniform with each others, falling flat in a diagonal line from the top to the bottom. Spray hair with a light hold hair spray to maintain the pattern of your feathers.
