Repair Camper Holding Tanks

Holding tanks separate waste from fresh water.

Rough Terrain or dragging on the ground, can create a crack in what is normally a very durable holding tank. RVs have a gray water tank for runoff from sinks and showers, a black tank for sewage and waste and a fresh water tank. These tanks are vital to make your RV bathroom useful. Should your tank become damaged, it can be repaired with a few simple steps.

Instructions

1. Remove any grease, tar, dirt or oil for the area being repaired.

2. Rough up the area to be repaired with sandpaper.

3. Cut the fiberglass cloth large enough to cover and overlap the damaged area.

4. Open the metal tube in the bag holding the resin.

5. Put the hardener in the bag with the key over the metal tube.

6. Mix the resin and hardener until thoroughly integrated.

7. Brush a layer of resin over the damaged area that will be covered with the fiberglass.

8. Put the fiberglass piece over the resin area to be covered.

9. Brush another layer of resin over the fiberglass.

10. Flare or feather out the edges of the resin.
