Decorate your flip flops to make a fashion statement. Flip flop sandals are budget-friendly, comfortable and convenient for casual summer footwear, but they can be bland and lack style. Remedy that problem by giving them a personalized makeover. You can decorate your flip flops with craft supplies to match your outfits, beach bag or bathing suit. If you're really crafty, pick up a bunch of them at a discount store and make fashion flip flop gifts for all of your friends.
Instructions
1. Get duct tape in assorted bold colors and prints. Take a 2- to 3-inch strip of tape and place it sticky-side down on a self-healing cutting mat. Make a little lip at one corner of the tape so it will be easier to lift up later.
2. Lay a small stencil on top of the duct tape strip, such as a flower or fish. Trace the image onto the duct tape.
3. Trace over the image lines with a craft knife to cut through the tape. Lift the edge of the cut image with the tip of the craft knife and pull it up. Affix the colorful tape die cut you made to the sole of your flip flop. Make more sticky shapes and add them on the sole to decorate it with images.
4. Select an embellishment to glue to the strap of the flip flop, such as feathers, sequins, craft gems, ribbon or rick rack. Glue the chosen item along the top edge of the plastic straps.
5. Glue a larger embellishment, such as a silk flower or butterfly, on the center of the strap just above the toe piece.
