Make Cheap Artwork With Children
Art time is not exclusive to school environments. There are many ways that you can make art time fun and inexpensive at home. Follow these simple tips to keep your children artistically active and interested in creativity while at home.
Instructions
1. Get inexpensive art supplies. Buy discounted art supplies in bulk or make your own. You may even be able to recycle household items to use as art supplies.
2. Find an area in your home that is easy to clean. Kitchens are a great place to sit down and create artwork with children.
3. Gather scraps of different types of fabric. Craft pieces, excess sewing fabric, old clothing and even shoelaces can be used. Introduce the fabrics to the children. Let the children get a feel for the fabrics' textures, shapes and sizes. Instruct the children to create a collage by gluing the fabrics onto a poster board.
4. Go through your pantry and find various types of pasta. Any type of pasta in different shapes and sizes will do. Sit the children down in front of a paper plate and glue and encourage them to create an image or sculpture using the materials.
5. Raid your children's closet for an old pair of shoes. Tell your children to use markers, paint, glue, beads and other materials to decorate the shoes.
6. Rinse out empty aluminum soda and coffee cans. Instruct the children to decorate the cans so that they may use the cans to hold barrettes, coins or other tiny items.
7. Clean an empty milk jug so that no residue remains. Tell the children to decorate the milk jug so that they can use the milk jug as a bird feeder in the future. Cut a square window in the middle of the jug so that the birds will have room to enter. Cut two holes in front of the jug and insert pencils in the holes for the birds to use as perches.
8. Wipe dirt and other debris off of rocks. Encourage children to decorate the rocks using paints, markers, googly craft eyes, yarn and other materials so that they create a pet rock.
