Cut Sweeping Bangs

Sweeping bangs give you a more dramatic look.

Sweeping bangs emerged as a significant part of the Emo look, but that is certainly not the only style they work well with. Side-swept bangs soften and lengthen the face, and even work well on those with a very round head shape. Sweeping bangs look great with short, medium and long hair, and can accompany an updo or a less formal hairstyle. Give yourself sweeping bangs to update your current hairdo.

Instructions

1. Wash your hair or wet it down with a wet comb. This will pull any curl or wave out of your hair so you get a nice even cut.

2. Part your hair in a triangular shape with the peak just in front of your crown. The sides of the triangle may have a slightly curved shape that mimics the curve of your head. The triangle should run from the peak point just in front of your crown, down to your temples. Leave this hair hanging down over your forehead.

3. Pull the rest of your hair back into a ponytail clamp. Divide the hair over your forehead into three sections. The first section runs from your left temple to the corner of your eye. The second section is between the outside corner of your left eye and the outside corner of your right eye. The last section is between your right temple and the corner of your eye. Use bobby pins to pull the outer two sections back while cutting the center section.

4. Cut the center section horizontally from the outside corner of one eye to the outside corner of your other eye. Trim your wet bangs a half-inch longer than you want your final bang length to be. Use your fingers to create a line across the bangs and cut below your fingers.

5. Razor comb the ends of the center section of bangs. Holding the comb horizontally, run the razor comb through the bottom half-inch of your bangs in a downward motion from the top of the half-inch section to the hair ends. The more you use the razor comb, the thinner the end of your bangs will be.

6. Take the other two sections out of the bobby pins. Cut your bangs between the corner of your eye and the temple so the bangs are slightly longer than the center section. Make a horizontal cut across, then razor comb the ends.
