Generate A Router Table

A router table is a map to different computers and subnets on your Windows network. You add a routing table using the Windows command line. Windows typically builds a routing table automatically, but you can manually add and build a routing table using the "route add" command. This command lets you add IP addresses such as another router or computer that controls network traffic for the domain.

Instructions

1. Click the Windows "Start" button. Type "cmd" into the search text box and press "Enter." This opens a command line utility.

2. Type "route /?" and press "Enter." This lets you view all of the routing table options. It is also a useful command in case you forget the syntax.

3. Type the following command and press "Enter":

route ADD "network" MASK "subnet mask" "gateway ip"

Replace "network" with the IP address for the new routing address. The "subnet mask" and the "gateway IP" are provided by your network administrator or your Internet service provider. This command adds a routing address. Repeat this step to continue adding addresses to your routing table.
