Remove feathering to play up contrast.
In Adobe InDesign, feathering gradually changes the transparency of an object, letting it blend into the background. This makes elements look more natural within pages without uncompromising their central portion's visibility. For instance, a red text box with green text may steadily fade into a background of dark blue. Removing the feathering emphasizes the boundary between the background and the element. This is particularly important if you are separately highlighting this border, such as by adding a stroke effect.
Instructions
1. Press "V" to select the "Object select" tool.
2. Click the object whose feathering you want to remove.
3. Click "Object" from the menu bar.
4. Click "Effects" from the drop-down menu that opens. A new menu will open to the right.
5. Click "Basic feather." The "Effects" window will open.
6. Uncheck the boxes for "Basic Feather," "Directional Feather" and "Gradient Feather."
7. Click "OK." The object will lose its feather.
