Dry feather pillows properly to prevent deterioration.
To keep feather pillows looking and smelling their best, they need cleaned occasionally. After washing the pillows on a delicate cycle with a small capful of laundry detergent, run them through the wash one more time with water only to remove any leftover detergent. Then, dry the feather pillows properly for the best result.
Instructions
1. Place one to two pillows in the dryer along with a few tennis balls or a pair of clean tennis shoes. These items bounce around in the dryer and fluff the feather pillows as they dry.
2. Turn the dryer on a low tumble-dry setting and let run for about 15 minutes. Take the pillows out and shake them around to cool them down and also break up any clumps of feathers.
3. Place the pillows back into the dryer, drying in 15-minute increments as needed until the pillows are dried fully.
4. Deodorize musty smells by placing the feather pillows outdoors in direct sunlight for about two hours. Let the pillows sit on one side for about an hour, then flip them over so sunlight hits all parts of the pillows evenly.
