Drastic Applying For Grants Eye Shadows For Halloween

Use colors to create a drastic eye makeup look.

The eyes are the gateway to the soul and can also be the focus of your Halloween look when you decide on a drastic and dramatic costume. With a little creativity, you can decorate your peepers into eye-catching designs that will enhance a costume or stand as one on their own. Eyeshadows, liners, lashes and extra additions should all be used to pull off a drastic eye makeup look.

Colors

Begin creating your drastic eye makeup look by layering on some color. Your eyes should play into the rest of the costume, so think about what hues will pull together the look. For example, if you're dressing up as an alien, use bright green or blue shadows to cover your lids, or all black for a witch or zombie costume. Use a heavy eye shadow or costume face paint that's safe for the eyes, applied with a brush or your finger. Don't focus on just coloring the lids; instead, use the makeup everywhere, including below the eye, up to the eyebrow and past to the hair line.

Liner

An eyeliner pencil or other makeup pencil can add definition to your eyes. If you're dressing as a rock star, layer on heavy liner around the perimeter of the eyes. Those dressing as witches or ghouls can draw spiderwebs extending from the creases of their eyes toward their scalps. Eyeliners come in a variety of colors including blacks, reds, purples and glittered, so use an array of colors to create a drawing around your eyes.

Lashes

Exaggerate your eyelashes for a drastic eye makeup look. Mascara boosts your natural lashes, and comes in colors ranging from black to neon orange. Find a color that works for your costume and apply it liberally to the top and bottom lashes. You can also use fake lashes to create a dramatic look around your eyes. Along with long black lashes, many costumes stores sell intricate fake lashes made from a variety of light materials including feathers and tinsel.

Extras

Add some extra drama to your eyes by incorporating other materials. Wear colored contacted lenses to change your actual eye color. Use a small stencil to create stars, hearts or other shapes around your eyes. Buy body glitter to be applied over and around your lids for more sparkle. Use makeup glue to attach sequins or rhinestones next to your eyes or over your eyebrows.
