Fun Hair Games For Children

Conjure up some fun at your child's next birthday party by playing hair games.

If you're looking for a fun and exciting activity to play at the next birthday party, try playing hair games. There are many different fun games the kids plays that will make them use their imagination, creativity and even team work. All of the games are inexpensive, and can be played by both girls and boys.

Make Hair Bows

Purchase enough ribbon so that each child has one ribbon 14 inches long. Then buy plain hair ties, headbands, sequins, crystals, etc. With a little fabric glue, each child can use her own imagination to create a cool new hair piece. Simply tie the ribbon into a bow around the hair tie. Now, every time the child puts her hair into a ponytail, the ribbon will be perfectly in place. To make a ribbon headband, apply a small strip of glue over the band and glue the ribbon to it (cutting off the excess ribbon if necessary). Using her creativity and imagination, have her glue sequins, crystals, feathers, or anything else to jazz up her headband.

Make Barrettes

Barrettes can be a little expensive if they're purchased in a boutique or hair salon. Instead, purchase some plain clip barrettes and any other fun decorations for them (ribbon, crystals, sequins, fake flowers, etc.). With a little bit of fabric glue, each girl can create her own hair barrette. She can even glue a flower to the barrette to make a Hawaiian-inspired hair clip. Have a few mirrors available so each girl can see how cute her new 'do looks.

Decorate a Hat

This is a fun game for girls and boys to play. Purchase plain inexpensive hats at any arts and crafts store along with fun accessories for them as well, such as stick-on felt lettering, crystals, sequins, feathers, sports pins, buttons, fabric markers, etc. Each child can choose their hat and decorate it as they'd like.

Non-Permanent Hair Dye

At an arts and craft store or children's jewelry and accessory store, you can purchase clip-in hair extensions. They are very inexpensive and come in all different colors. Have the kids play around with the different hair colors, clipping them into each other's hair. You can even have a competition to see who can clip in the most extensions. Take pictures of each child of how cute they look with a head full of colored hair. Different colored Halloween wigs can also be used for the fashion show. Kids will love changing their hair styles and colors.
