Eliminate Bulky Hair

Thick hair can make your hair appear bulky and shapeless. However, removing the bulk from your hair takes more than just a simple haircut. In order to give your hair style and shape, you must adopt a new hair care routine with products that are designed to work with your hair.

Instructions

1. Get your hair cut in a style that eliminates bulk. Ask your stylist to use thinning shears to remove the excess bulk of your hair if your hair is not curly. If you have curly hair, ask your stylist to remove the bulk carefully by removing the hair a little at time. When your stylist cuts your hair, ask for a sleeker cut that can easily be smoothed and styled with a flat iron.

2. Wash your hair with smoothing shampoo and conditioner. Smoothing shampoos and conditioners help keep the hair sleek and smooth looking, while preventing fly away and unruly hair.

3. Wring out your hair gently by squeezing sections of it. This removes excess water without rubbing the hair. When you rub your hair with a towel, it causes frizz and can damage the hair.

4. Apply heat protecting serum or cream to your hair. Run the product through your hair. Carefully comb the hair with a wide-toothed comb to fully cover all hair strands.

5. Run a small amount of anti-frizz serum through your hair. This prevents frizz and fly away hair.

6. Blow dry your hair on low heat. Use a round, soft-bristled brush to brush your hair while you dry it. The brush will give you a little volume without creating bulk. Blow dry until your hair is almost dry. Once your hair is almost dry, let it air dry until it is completely dry.

7. Part your hair into six sections after it fully dries. Clip each section with a hair clip. Take one section of the hair at a time and hot iron it. Place the hot iron up toward the root of the hair section. In one motion, glide the hot iron down to the tips of the hair. Repeat with each section until all parts of the hair are smooth and sleek.

8. Turn your hair dryer back on and set the temperature to the coolest setting. Blow the cool air all over your hair. The cool air sets the style. Brush your hair once more.

9. Mist your hair with a fine hairspray to fully set your style.
