Most feather down comforters are made from goose or duck down.
Nothing feels more comfortable at the end of the day then covering yourself with a soft, feather down comforter. Unfortunately, it's likely you will get stains on your comforter sooner or later. While cleaning and washing a down comforter can be a hassle due to its size and weight, it's still possible to successfully remove stains from your down comforter. Use supplies from home to remove stains and take your down comforter to the laundromat so you can wash and dry it in the extra large machines. After investing a little time and effort, you'll have a clean, fresh down comforter to sleep under again.
Instructions
1. Combine equal parts baking soda and white vinegar to make a paste.
2. Your cleaning agent works on the stain as it soaks into the fibers.
Rub the paste into the stain on your down comforter using a clean cloth dampened with water. Allow the baking soda and vinegar paste to sit on your stained comforter for 30 minutes.
3. Old towels come in handy for cleaning.
Wipe the paste and the stain off your comforter using a clean cloth.
4. Fill an extra-large front-loading washing machine with cool water and the recommended amount of mild laundry detergent. Allow the detergent and water to mix for two minutes prior to adding your comforter. Extra-large front-loading machines can be found at the laundromat.
5. Pour one half cup white vinegar into the rinse water. Doing this helps to ensure all the soap residue is removed from your down comforter.
6. Clean tennis balls help keep a comforter fluffy and comfortable.
Dry your feather down comforter in an extra-large dryer. Place unused tennis balls in the dryer, to help fluff the down and keep it from forming a lump in one area of the comforter.
