Make Crow Wings From Black Poster Board

Making wings from poster board is simple and doesn't take long at all. Kids can even help make their own wings. Whether the wings are for a school play, a Halloween costume or a class project, making crow wings can be fun. Gather all your materials before hand, and perhaps even include a picture of a crow that you can use for a reference, if desired.

Instructions

1. Lay the poster board flat on a work surface. Each sheet of poster board will be one crow wing.

2. Sketch out the design of the wings on the poster board using white chalk. Scallop the bottom edges of the wings so they will look realistic. Make the wings as large or small as you like, depending on the size of the person who will be wearing them. Realistically, one poster board can create two wings for a small child.

3. Cut the wings out and discard the excess poster board.

4. Decorate the wings. Glue or tape on black feathers or cut feather shapes out of black construction paper. Feathers will add some fluff to your crow wings and look more like real bird wings. For shimmery wings, add some glitter glue to the feathers or outline the wings with glitter.

5. Loop elastic over the person's arm and hold each wing up to her back, one at a time and in the proper position. Staple the ends of the elastic loops to the back of the wings at a comfortable spot so the wearer can easily slip the loop through her arm and wear the wings. The wings can be attached to each other by punching a hole in the center of each wing and tying string, ribbon or elastic through the holes.
