Make Purim Cards
Purim is a joyous Jewish holiday celebrated about a month before Passover. It commemorates the time when Jews were saved from extermination in Persia, and often involves costumes, gifts and much revelry. Send your friends festive homemade Purim greeting cards in celebration of Purim this year. Making Purim crafts can be a fun way to spend time when preparing for the holiday, and a lovely way to spread some love and cheer to others.
Instructions
Purim Crown Card
1. Cut and fold a piece of card stock in the color of your choice to form a basic card shape.
2. Cut a strip of shiny gold paper or foil to be almost as wide as the card. Cut the top to resemble a crown by cutting pointed peaks. Affix the crown to the front of your card with a glue stick.
3. Glue craft gems or shiny beads onto the crown using a clear-drying craft glue gel.
4. Write your greeting on the card above or below the crown with a pencil. Trace over the pencil lines with glitter glue.
5. Write your message on the inside of the card.
Purim Mask Card
6. Get a plain half-face mask from a party store. It can be plastic or silk.
7. Decorate the mask by painting it brightly for someone special with acrylic paints. Hot glue sequins, feathers or craft gems onto the mask.
8. Cut and fold a piece of card stock for a basic card shape. Affix the mask to the front cover of the card using double-sided photo mounting squares. This will make the mask easily removable.
9. Write your greeting on the card, and in the message inside, note that the mask is detachable and ready for the recipient to use on Purim.
Punched Tin Card to send with Mishloach Manot
10. Place an index card on the bottom of a plain aluminum foil pie tin. Trace around it with a marker.
11. Cut out the rectangular shape with scissors. Write the name of the family or person who will be receiving the mishloach manot on the foil with a fine point marker, backward. In the finished product, the lettering will be forward and raised. If you like, you can use a stencil to create your letters, just place it upside down so the letters come out backward.
12. Place the tin rectangle on a piece of craft foam. Use a stylus to trace over the backward letters. Make designs around the borders, if desired, such as flowers, squiggly lines or whatever you like.
13. Turn the foil over to reveal the design. Punch a hole in the corner of the foil and thread a ribbon through it so you can tie it to the gift.
