Construct Your Own Stork Toy

Use a picture showing a stork's profile for tracing.

Creating stuffed animals can be a fun activity to do with kids, or a unique way to create fun personalized gifts. The basic method that you use to create your stuffed stork can be used to create many other types of homemade stuffed animals as well.

Instructions

1. Find a picture of a stork that you would like to be the model for your stuffed animal. Place your tracing paper on top of the picture and use a pencil to trace an outline of the stork. When the trace is done, use a pen to go over your work. Using a pair of scissors, cut along the lines that you created.

2. Place the stork cut-out on top of the cloth. (Make sure you have enough cloth to for your two cut-outs). Trace the cut-out with a felt pen. Repeat the process on another section of cloth. Cut out both areas of cloth with a pair of scissors. Place the two cloth cut-outs on top of each other. Use push pins in regular intervals to fasten the two pieces together.

3. Sew the two pieces of cloth together using a sewing machine or needle and thread. Leave a small hole opened at the bottom.

4. Stuff cotton balls into the hole until the desired stiffness has been obtained. Sew up the hole using a needle and thread.

5. Place googly eyes on the animal where the eyes be. Use markers to color in the animal's beak and legs. You can use needle and thread to stitch in eye-brows, hair and wings.

6. Be creative. Use buttons, push pins, and ribbon to personalize and bring your creation to life.
