Suggestions For Child'S The month of january Birthday Celebration

Throw a pool party for your child's January birthday for something different.

Children typically look forward to their birthdays all year long, which makes a special birthday party that much more exciting. January birthdays sometimes are overlooked because they are right after the holiday season--also because the weather can be cold and gloomy. Create a January birthday party for your child to celebrate her special day.

Pool Party

Help your guests forget about the dreary winter by planning a pool party. An indoor pool is the ideal spot for this event, if you have access to one. If not, forgo the actual pool--instead, create a pool party atmosphere. Use paper or inflatable palm trees, tiki torches, grass skirts, beach balls, pool toys and colorful beach umbrellas to decorate your party space. Set out little beach pails filled with sunscreen, sunglasses, flip-flops and sweet treats as party favors. Spell out "happy birthday" with a colorful green rope that looks like a water hose. Alternatively, cut out flip-flop shapes and build the letters using these. Include other summer elements, such as a luau, for a festive feast. Activities can include a game of limbo and Hula-hoops if you have the space.

Winter Wonderland

Take advantage of after-Christmas sales by creating a winter wonderland with holiday decorations. String white lights and silver tinsel all around the room. Use artificial snow to further the theme. White feathers or expanses of white cotton or canvas can create a snowy look all over the floor or on the tables. Hang fake icicles or snowflakes from the ceiling and fill glass jars and vases with fake snowballs. Make a birthday banner out of paper snowflakes and glitter. Let your party guests make their own snowglobes as party favors.

Snow Day

Take advantage of the snow if the weather isn't too bad, or rent a snow machine to create a snow day if you live in a warmer climate that generally doesn't get snow. Use snowflakes as the party invitations. Supply props for the kids to have a snowman contest, with a special birthday hat for the birthday child's snowman. Let the kids have a snowball fight. Mittens and scarves are fitting party favors.

Garden Party

Host a garden-themed birthday party if your child can't wait for spring. Fill the party room with potted plants and flowers. Bring your garden furniture inside, if possible. Fill flower pots with tissue paper grass and flower-shaped lollipops or pinwheels. Hang large images of butterflies, ladybugs and dragonflies on the walls or from the ceiling. Use your child's age to determine how many spots the ladybugs should have. Fill plastic eggs with treats as party favors, or send the children on an egg hunt.

Candy Theme

Use candy as the theme for your child's January birthday party for a bright, spirit-lifting party. Fill clear containers with bright candy, including pink, orange, yellow, blue and green. Include your child's favorite candy. Decorate with images of your child's favorite candy or large novelty pillows that mimic popular candy brands. Ask guests to guess how many candies are in certain jars, and let the winner take the jar home. Miniature gumball machines are fitting party favors.
