Gifts For Seven Years Old Women

Seven-year-old girls love to dress up.

Shopping for gifts for 7-year-old girls doesn't have to be complicated. Having a general understanding of her favorite activities helps narrow down options when picking the right gift, but if you're shopping for the daughter of a colleague or college friend you may not know her preferences. Luckily, tried-and-true classic gifts will surely put a smile on the face of any 7-year-old girl.

Dress Up

Most little girls love to dress up, whether it's a glamorous princess outfit or rough-and-ready cowgirl getup. Purchase ready-made costume kits for an easy dress-up gift, or spend some extra time putting together a one-of-a-kind dress-up gift. Feather boas, floppy hats and plastic pearls make an elegant lady costume, while other 7-year-old girls will like a black doctor's bag filled with stethoscopes, white coat and official-looking pad for writing down prescriptions. Stay away from costume gifts that seem form-fitting, cut short or too "adult" -- some parents won't appreciate the grown-up look. Because it's dress-up, you don't have to worry about buying just the right size; when in doubt go for something slightly larger so that she can grow into it.

Athletic

Some 7-year-old girls enjoy being active, and you can buy convenient, low-price athletic-type gifts that will last a long time. Soccer balls, body boards, badminton sets and skateboards provide hours of good times. Go retro with a pogo stick, stilts or colored chalk for sidewalk hopscotch. If you want to buy roller skates, wetsuits or other size-based gifts, double-check with her parents to make sure you have her correct size. Otherwise, save the store receipt to facilitate easy exchanges or returns.

Art

Seven-year-old girls can be quite artistic, so indulge young Frida Kahlos with artistic gifts. Good bets include simple, inexpensive watercolor sets, colored stamps, markers and crayons. Since these often get lost, broken or worn down, most little girls welcome fresh supplies for their art boxes. If you're on a bigger budget, consider buying an easel, artist's smock or more expensive acrylic paints. She might feel grown-up painting on an inexpensive canvas rather than ordinary paper stock. Put a smile on her parents' faces by including a plastic drop cloth to protect the carpet.

Money

Sometimes a little dose of financial freedom makes a fun gift for a 7-year-old girl. Don't just stick a personal check in a generic card; instead, include a stack of fresh new singles in a glossy pink snap-purse or embroidered wallet. She'll enjoy picking out treats at the drugstore or shopping mall. Avoid admonishing her to save the cash -- that spoils all the fun!
