Collage Frame Ideas

A collage frame is a project that adults or kids can complete.

A collage picture frame project can make an ordinary picture frame extraordinary. While the base of the frame can be made out of a variety of materials such as plastic, wood or foam, it should be a material to which craft glue can adhere. Collage frames can revolve around a certain theme, or they can be made from interesting objects or papers. When making a collage frame, there are many different ideas to consider.

Name and Initial Frames

Collage frames can be used to display a person's name or initials. Foam, wooden or sticker letters can be used. Names or initials can be typed in different fonts or colored papers on a computer and then printed to be cut and applied to a frame. Unusual letters can make frames special. Consider using Scrabble pieces, magnetic toy alphabet letters or letter beads to make the frame stand out.

Princess Frames

Princess items are easy to find and can be used to make a collage frame.

Collage frames can be created by painting wooden frames pink or purple and applying embellishments after the paint has dried. Embellishments might include feathers, stick-on jewels, miniature doll accessories such as shoes or purses, princess stickers and dollar-store makeup samples.

Superlatives Frame

Collage frames that are created for gifts can display words chosen to describe the person for which they're intended. Cut words such as "fabulous", "wonderful" and "terrific" from magazines, old books or newspapers. Create computer documents with words to print out if recycled materials are not available. Words can be applied directly to the frame or positioned by using pop art or comic book-style sunbursts or stars behind them for extra emphasis.

Memorabilia Frames

Tickets can be added to memorabilia frames.

Collage frames that represent a special or important event can be a special keepsake. Items for the collage may include tickets to events, receipts, cropped photos, stickers, pieces of beverage napkins, swizzle sticks, matchbook covers or other keepsakes. Themed scrapbook stickers can be added. Special dates may be displayed on the frame as well.

Newspaper Frames

Collage frames can be simply made to emphasize the photograph inside. Old newspapers can be cut or torn into squares and applied to the painted or unpainted frame.
