Crows are known to be sloppy nest builders.
Crows are different than ravens; they are smaller and have a longer beak, along with longer nails and legs. They also have a less fan-shaped tail. Crows are not allowed to be kept as pets since they are a migratory bird and it would be hard to sketch a live crow in the wild. Using an image is the next best option. Look for images on the Internet or take a picture of a crow in a natural setting. If crows are not around, try the local zoo aviary. (See References 1 and 2)
Instructions
1. Obtain an image of a crow and place in a spot that is easy to see.
2. Start by drawing an action line. An action line represents what the bird is doing. Is the crow flying, eating or just sitting? A crow that is sitting will have an action line that is vertical and a flying crow will have a horizontal action line.
3. Draw the basic shapes that will represent the head, body, wings and feet using egg shapes, circles and lines. (See Reference 3)
4. Draw lines to sketch in the body around the shapes. Adjust the shape and lines as necessary using an eraser and redrawing. Add details such as feathers, eyes and nails.
5. Trace over the finished lines with a pen or marker. Erase all pencil marks.
