Get Grime From Whitened Carpet

Remove dirt from white carpet as soon as possible.

If you have white carpet, you know it's often difficult to keep it white and clean. Even if you take off your shoes before walking on it and are extremely careful, just the littlest bit of dirt can show. Fortunately, if all you get on your carpet is dirt and you act quickly, you can get dirt out before it grinds in.

Instructions

1. Vacuum it up. Start on the outer edges and work your way toward the middle. Don't step on the dirt or you will grind it in. If only a small area of your carpet has dirt in it, use the wand attachment so the weight of the vacuum cleaner doesn't push the dirt into the carpet.

2. Use a piece of sticky tape to remove dirt. Test this method in an unseen area first to be sure it doesn't remove or damage your carpet fibers or leave a sticky residue.

3. Clean white carpet with a carpet steam cleaner if the dirt is ground in and doesn't get thoroughly clean with one of the previous steps. Use plain water to get just dirt out. Read the instructions for your machine since each machine is different. Start on the far side of the room so you don't have to step on the wet carpet to leave the room.

4. Go over each carpet section several times after cleaning it, but this time don't let out any more water. This will excrete as much of the water as possible from the carpet into the machine before you move onto the next row or section.

5. Allow the carpet to dry completely before walking on it. Open the windows if possible and set up fans.
