Merchanting, also known as merching, is a way to make money in the online game of "RuneScape." Merchanting is the act of purchasing an item at a low price with the intention on selling the item at a higher price to generate profit. Merchanting requires players to continuously observe the prices of the Grand Exchange and predict future prices. Players may join merchanting clans to manipulate the Grand Exchange by purchasing items in bulk, thus increasing an item's demand and price.
Instructions
1. Determine the type of merchanting you wish to carry out -- investing, flipping or price manipulation.
2. Merchant by investing. Predict an item's long-term price and purchase the item when the price is low. Determine the price of an item according to future updates or a change in the demand. When demand rises, sell the item, thus resulting in profit.
3. Merchant by flipping. Purchase items with the intent of selling them within a short period of time. Purchase the entire stock of an item and sell the item after a few hours or days.
4. Merchant by price manipulation. Work with a clan, or group of people, to manipulate an item's price at the Grand Exchange. Purchase the entire stock of a particular item with the clan, making it unavailable to other players. The demand for the item will rise, thus increasing the item's price at the Grand Exchange. After the item reaches a predetermined price, dump the item on the Grand Exchange and make a lot of money.
5. Search the Grand Exchange for items that are priced lower than usual. The "RuneScape" website contains the Grand Exchange prices and historical data on each item.
6. Purchase as much of the item stock as possible. If there is no stock available to other players, the demand will rise immediately.
7. Watch the Grand Exchange price for the item to rise and determine the appropriate time to sell. If you are flipping the item, the Grand Exchange updates every four hours.
