A Do It Yourself Feather Tree Focal point For Wedding ceremonies

Create a stunning feather tree centerpiece from peacock feathers.

A feather tree is an eye-catching table centerpiece, made from a tall, thin vase that resembles a tree trunk and a tree top of brightly colored feather plumes. Grace the tables at your wedding reception with these simple decorations and use feathers and vases in your color scheme to tie the centerpieces into the event. After the wedding, bring at least a few of the vases with you to grace the newlyweds' home.

Instructions

1. Lay one feather on your work surface and trim away any feather from the bottom 3 inches of the quill. Repeat this with each of the feathers.

2. Pick up one trimmed quill and slide it into the top center of a foam bouquet holder. Insert three more quills around the center. Continue inserting additional quills around the center until all feathers are used. Insert each quill on a slight angle downward into the foam. Do not insert quills directly from either side.

3. Slide the foam bouquet holder into the top of a very tall, thin flower vase. The vase should be at least 20 inches tall but can reach a height of up to 30 inches.

4. Lift up the vase and apply some hot glue to the underside. Press the vase down firmly on the center of a small, decorative plate. The wide bottom of the plate will help keep the feather tree balanced.

5. Wrap a length of ribbon down around the vase. Tuck the top of the ribbon into the top of the vase and coil the ribbon all the way down the vase "tree" trunk.
