Create A Butterfly Headband

A butterfly headband makes an attractive summertime accessory for girls and women. Not only will it provide an appealing way to keep hair out of your eyes, but you can also have fun making it. Hot glue is required, so adult supervision is recommended. The butterfly symbolizes delicacy and grace.

Instructions

1. Draw the outline of a butterfly on a piece of paper. Cut it out.

2. Fold the base piece of fabric in half. Place the butterfly cutout on top.

3. Insert a needle through the middle of the butterfly and the fabric and turn it to bring it back through, about 1/4 of an inch from where you inserted it. This will hold the butterfly and fabric together.

4. Cut around the butterfly to get rid of unessential fabric. Pull out the pin and put the paper to the side.

5. Draw half of a butterfly on a piece of paper and cut it out. This butterfly should be about 3/4 the size of the first paper butterfly. Fold the small piece of fabric in half, length-wise. Place the small paper butterfly over the fabric.

6. Insert a needle through the middle of the butterfly and the fabric and turn it to bring it back through, about 1/4 of an inch from where you inserted it. This will hold the butterfly and fabric together.

7. Cut around the butterfly to get rid of unessential fabric. Pull out the pin and put the paper to the side.

8. Place the netting between the large and small pieces of fabric. Remove it and then cut around the netting so none of it is hanging off the edges of the fabric.

9. Light a candle. Melt the edges of the netting on the candle's flame. Don't touch the flame with the netting. Repeat with each piece of fabric. Blow out the candle and set it to the side.

10. Put the netting over the large butterfly. Put the smaller butterfly over the netting.

11. Insert a needle and thread through the middle back of the butterfly and the fabric and turn it to bring it back through about 1/4 of an inch from where you inserted it. This will hold the butterfly together.Tie to two ends of thread together. Cut off the excess thread.

12. Squeeze a thin strip of hot glue onto the top of the butterfly. Place five beads on the glue.

13. Cut out a 1-inch-round circle. Put hot glue in the middle and around the sides. Place the paper with the glue side stuck to the inside side of the headband. Stick the bottom of the butterfly onto the glue at the side of the headband.
