Make Veiled Fascinators

The veiled fascinators is making a comeback with brides.

During the first half of the 20th century, the fascinator was a stylish addition to an elegant woman's outfit. The fascinator was a headpiece -- often decorated with feathers -- with a veil suspended from the front. Fascinators fell into disuse in the 1970s, when hat wearing became unfashionable. However, today's brides have rediscovered the veiled fascinator, which often stands in for a tiara or headpiece, and the fascinator has always been in style at formal English racing events such as Ascot. A bridal fascinator, decorated with feathers and silk flowers, is fairly simple to make.

Instructions

1. Cut the netting into a 14-inch-diameter circle, using the compass as a guide. Center the netting over the top edge of hair comb and glue it in place, using the hot glue gun.

2. Place the comb in your hair. Drape the netting over the top half of your face and pin the netting together with the straight pins at the back of your head. Hand sew the netting to the pins, using the needle and thread.

3. Attach the feathers to the top of the comb over the netting with the hot glue gun.

4. Attach the silk flowers over the feathers with the glue gun. Then, attach the pearls to the center of the flowers with the glue gun.
