Slumber parties are most often seen as traditional girly-girl parties that hold a special sentiment between the adolescent and teen years. A teenager sleepover is going to be different from the average elementary slumber party, as teens may want to focus more on eerie, makeup fun or music entertainment themes. These popular elements can make for some fun, exciting games that will keep the girls in giggles and stitches the whole night through.
Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board
Teenage girls who want to add a little supernatural mystery and eeriness to their sleepover can play "Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board." At least four girls should be in attendance. One girl should lie on the floor flat on her back. The remaining girls should kneel down beside her: one at the head and another at her feet. The group should begin to softly chant "light as a feather, stiff as a board," in unison. The girls should place only their pointer and middle fingers under their friend's body, lifting her from the ground with minimal force. As the body begins to lift, friends should chant louder until the girl is completely levitated from the ground and until their fingers no longer feel the pressure of her body.
Messy Makeover Contest
Have a contest to see which teams can create the most hideous makeovers. Request that the attendees bring as much makeup as they can from home. Divide at least six to eight girls into groups of two and have each team decide who will be the makeup artist, the hair stylist and who will be the model. Delegate one girl to judge the contest. To start, remove all mirrors from the room. Set a timer to 10 minutes to begin the makeup contest frenzy. Once the clock stops, have the judge crown the girl with the messiest makeover. For prizes, give the runners-up unique beauty gifts like candy bracelets, heart-shape glitter glasses or sparkling lip gloss. The winner should receive a "turn-around" makeover where all messy makeup is removed. Re-apply the makeup in a neat fashion and groom her hair, adorning it with bows or beads. Crown her with a toy tiara.
Talent Show
For older teens 15 and up, music and dancing activities are sure to be a hit. Set up your very own sleepover talent show which can either consist of a karaoke sing-off or a dance-off. For the karaoke contest, select attendees who feel they have singing ability and who are confident enough to compete with their peers. Create a panel of three girls to judge the singing contestants on their vocal skills, their ability to follow the lyrics with few mess-ups and charisma. If focusing solely on dancing, incorporate a dance video game so contestants can follow along to the steps and to the beat. Again, let a panel of three determine the winner. Award music CD prizes to the top two contestants.
