With proper care, goose down items will last a lifetime.
Goose down comforters are filled with the feathers of geese. The feathers create a warm, soft feeling that will keep you toasty on cold winter nights. Goose down comforters cannot be cleaned like other blankets, however. Tossing them in your washing machine could cause the feathers to become matted together, leaving unpleasant lumps throughout the comforter. When stains such as blood occur on your comforter, use common household items to remove the stains and restore the look of your comforter.
Instructions
1. Remove the goose down comforter from the bed. Lay the comforter on a hard, flat surface. Keep the blood facing up.
2. Push the goose down away from the blood by pressing into the comforter with your fingers.
3. Pour 12 percent hydrogen peroxide into a small dish. Fill an eyedropper with the hydrogen peroxide.
4. Apply the hydrogen peroxide a drop at a time to the blood spot. Blot the area with a damp, white cloth.
5. Continue applying the hydrogen peroxide with the eyedropper and blotting with the cloth until you have removed the blood.
6. Blot the area with a clean, damp cloth. Pat dry with a towel. Once the comforter is dry, push the goose down back into the area like it was before the cleaning process.
