Eliminate A Stuffy Nose Overnight

Dry rooms can lead to congestion when sleeping at night

A stuffy nose occurs mainly during the cold winter months. Lots of people suffer from this problem due to exposure with cold winds, air pollutants, allergic reactions and sinus infections. A stuffy nose over a period of time can give rise to additional problems, including hay fever, headaches and a sore throat. Additionally, stuffy noses can lead to breathing problems and inability to sleep properly during the night due to a feeling of heaviness in head.

Instructions

Goodbye Stuffy Nose

1. Drink plenty of fluids such as water and beverages like tea, coffee and soup.

2. Use steam inhalation to get rid of stuffy nose and improve breathing. This can be done by putting your nose near a cup of steaming hot water and breathing in. A steaming hot cup of chicken noodle soup works great for this.

3. Eat ginger tea, raw onion and garlic before bed. These foods act as a powerful antidotes to cold conditions.

4. Consume spicy food before bed in order to get your stuffy nose to run, clearing it out. Spicy foods like curries can be taken for alleviating symptoms of stuffy nose and result in thinner mucus.

5. Use a mixture of basil leaves, honey, lemon juice and little ginger before bed to get rid of stuffy nose. Eucalyptus oil is also a good remedy used for cold and stuffy nose conditions and known to provide good relief to patients.

6. Buy a humidifier and leave it on in your room at night. Humidifiers not only moisten the air in order to prevent congestion due to dry air, but also help with coughing that is often associated with a stuffy nose.

7. Wash your sheets frequently. Allergens sometimes coat bed sheets and contribute to congestion.

8. Have specialists perform a somnoplasty. This is a nonsurgical procedure that creates a lesion that is absorbed into the back of the throat. The result is less congestion and less snoring.
