You can make a hat pin look Victorian by adding a few craft supplies.
During the Victorian age, women would wear large fancy hats that were held onto their heads with hat pins. Although some of these pins were long pins with a basic ball end, many of these pins were ornately decorated with beautiful ribbons, feathers, lace and beading. You can make a reproduction of a Victorian hat pin using a few craft supplies. Once finished, you can wear the hat pin to secure a large hat for Halloween or during a school play or as an ornament on a jacket or blouse.
Instructions
1. Cut an 8-inch length of medium-gauge wire with the wire cutters.
2. Squeeze one end of the wire with needle-nosed pliers to make it more pointed.
3. Curl the other end of the wire into a spiral, twisting it onto itself twice.
4. Insert a hot glue stick into the back of a hot glue gun. Plug in the glue gun to let it heat for 5 minutes.
5. Squeeze hot glue onto the spiraled end of the wire.
6. Attach beautiful decorations onto the hot glue, such as colorful beads, bright feathers, or bows made from velvet, satin or lace ribbon, which will make it resemble a Victorian hat pin.
7. Allow the hot glue to cool and harden before using the Victorian hat pin. This can take about 2 minutes.
