Ballet Birthday Games

Decorations can include pictures of ballerinas.

Kids love theme birthday parties, such as a ballet birthday party. Toe shoe-shaped cakes, pink food choices, and satin dance shoe and tiara favors are just some of the options when planning a ballet birthday party. Ballet-inspired games round out such parties, including relay and dress-up game options.

Ballet Dance Game

One of the "ballerinas" at the party should be selected to start this game. The lead ballerina performs assorted ballet moves to ballet music, such as music from the Christmas classic "The Nutcracker," and the other ballerinas must follow suit. A new ballerina should be chosen after about two or three minutes so that everyone gets a turn to play lead ballerina. This can also be turned into a "Simon Says" game featuring ballet moves.

Relay Race

This games requires an assortment of tutus, two tiaras, ballet slippers, hair pins, lipstick and any other ballerina-related items. Participants are divided into two teams on one side of the room while the other side of the room should be used for a box full of tutus, though all other items should receive their own box. Girls race two at a time putting on items from the boxes, then race back to the starting line, then race again to the boxes to take the items off. Participates must then race back to tag the next team member. The team that finishes the relay first wins.

Tip-Toe Musical Chairs

Musical chairs is a game where participants must walk around a set of chairs with music playing, then must race to sit down once the music stops. A chair is removed each turn, and the player who fails to find a chair is out. Give the game a ballet spin by using ballet music and having participants stand up on their tip-toes at all times. Actual ballet shoes can also be used if the girls are properly trained.

Dress-Up Games

Tutus, feather boas, tiaras, tights, ballet slippers and makeup can be used for ballet dress-up games. Ideas for such games include dividing participants into groups of three or four and selecting one participant from each group to be the "ballerina." The other participants must dress the ballerina with the items given to be judged by a "judging panel," which can either be other guests or guests' parents. The team with the "best" ballerina wins. Another option with this game is a race to dress the "ballerina." The team that dresses its ballerina first wins.
