Gambling costumes can be a fun way to dress up for Halloween.
Creating a gambler-themed costume for Halloween is limited only by your imagination and your budget. Costumes could be historical with a nod to old-time gamblers and western themes. Or you could create a Vegas-theme with showgirls, casino workers or players costumes. If you like to add a fun twist to your costume become the card; Queen of Hearts or jokers are easy.
Cards

While the Queen of Hearts costume from Alice in Wonderland is popular, you can also make your own costume based on the card itself. Take two piece of rectangular bristol board. On one draw a replica of the queen of hearts playing card -- or your favorite card -- and on the other create a colorful image to represent the back of cards. Attach strings at the top of each side to sit on your shoulders and in the middle to tie around your waist. Wear a turtleneck shirt, pants and shoes all in black.
You could also go a little further and create a costume that duplicates what you see on the cards. Kings, queens, jacks and jokers are all easier cards to make costumes for.
Historic Gambler
In the riverboat casino times, the gamblers -- mostly men -- had a very distinctive look. Tight pants tucked into knee-high boots, a buttoned dressy vest, a long overcoat and a fancy hat are all part of the costume. The boots should be black and the other three pieces can be another dark color, trimmed with black if possible. Add a pocket watch and chain for authenticity.
Vegas Showgirl

Vegas showgirl costumes can be a hit at adult Halloween parties. The basic necessities are feathers, sequins and long legs. Most showgirls wear a bikini top and bottom or a one-piece bodysuit. Whichever you choose cover it in sequins and glitter. Wear high heels in a matching color; fishnet stockings are optional. A sarong wrap trimmed in feathers and tied at the waist -- but open in the front -- completes the clothing; but don't forget the headpiece. Long feathers in the same color should be attached to a headband or tiara. These can be a in a fan shape or designed to be full and high surrounding the face. Gloves and long sparkly earrings can add some glamor.
Card Dealer
Blackjack dealers are an easy and fun costume.
A card dealer is a gender-neutral costume. Begin with black pants and shoes, a black bowtie and a white long-sleeved shirt. Add a vest in either black or a bright color; usually red or burgundy. This costume can be enhanced by creating your own portable card table. The easiest method is to cut a circular cardboard or kids card table in half; poker or blackjack work best. You can also try making your own. Attach guitar straps to the table and wear them over your shoulders. The straight edge of the half-circle should be against your body. Bring some chips and cards; you might even make some money at your Halloween party.
