Decorating purses is an excellent craft and souvenir gift for a young girl's birthday party. This project requires a significant time commitment on the part of the adult, both to prepare the purses for the party and to supervise the purse decorations. Purchasing canvas tote bags in bulk can significantly reduce costs associated with the craft. Compile a large array of plastic gems, feathers and glitter in order to provide young crafters with suitably royal options.
Instructions
1. Print the fabric paper or leave blank according to the preferences of individual crafters. To print, load the fabric paper into the ink jet printer. Follow paper manufacturer-specific instructions fully and completely to adjust printer settings. Place desired clip art in a blank office document, and print on to the fabric paper. Allow it to dry completely for 10 minutes before moving.
2. Iron the printed or blank fabric paper onto the side of the canvas bag, following manufacturer instructions for iron settings. Creative crafters may prefer a fully blank canvas for their decorations, while younger crafters may enjoy coloring in the clip art.
3. Establish the purse-making stations for the party guests. Place the plastic gems, feathers, glitter and any other desired embellishments in accessible containers. Distribute permanent markers. Heat the hot glue gun by plugging in out of the reach of young children.
4. Allow the crafters to decorate their princess purses by coloring the fabric paper with permanent markers and embellishing with the glitter glue and fabric paint. Assist or carefully supervise children in attaching decorations to the bags with a hot glue gun.
