A preschool princess can have fun roaming around her imagination.
A little girl often imagines herself as the star of her own fairytale. Carriages, castles and of course, a tiara, are all a part of the life of a fairytale princess. Help preschool girls make the most of their imaginations with some fun, princess-inspiring activities. Preschool children should be supervised with all of these projects.
Princess Tea Party
Create a magic tea room fit for only the prettiest preschool princesses. Cover walls with flowing fabric in shades of pink and white. Use twinkling Christmas lights to decorate house plants, on tables and along the ceiling. Use white and pink table linens and large pink flower arrangements for centerpieces. Give each preschool girl guest a tiara and wand (these can be purchased at party and dollar stores). Serve cookies and juice in pretty tea cups. Address each guest as "princess" and be sure to take pictures of the princesses as they drink their "tea" at the Princess Tea Party.
Princess Craft Day
Little princesses love making princess-related crafts. Make a paper plate magically turn into a tiara with a few easy steps and some simple craft items. Cut a hole in the paper plate so it fits the princess's head. Make triangles out of construction paper and glue them to the paper plate. Fold the ends of the triangles up so the points are pointing upward. Glue enough triangles to the paper plate to go all the way around. Glue jewels and use stickers to embellish. You can make princess wands by putting a dowel stick into a small circle of Styrofoam and decorating. Spend the day crafting princess crafts.
Princess Castle
Every princess needs a castle to live in. Create your own castle out of large cardboard boxes. Refrigerator boxes work really well for this project. Kids enjoy painting the castle gray. Be sure to do this project outside, as it will get messy. Draw rock shapes and crawling vines that go up the castle walls. An adult can cut windows and if you want to make stained glass windows, simply glue cellophane to the open window holes. Children will have hours of fun with their new castle. Alternately, create a smaller castle out of smaller boxes and tissue paper and paper towel tubes. Children can use these smaller castles for playing with princess dolls.
Princess Dress-up
Preschoolers love dress-up. Let children dress like princesses for some fun, royal play. Provide all types of fancy dress-up clothes. Use old Halloween costumes, pretty silk scarves, homemade crowns and scepters to create a princess outfit. Feather boas and long gloves, often available at dollar stores, make nice additions to a princess dress-up box.
