"World of Warcraft" was released for the PC in 2004. When the game was first launched, you were not able to change your character's gender once you had selected the character's features at the beginning of the game. However, in 2008, Blizzard added the ability to change your character's gender and many other features, such as hairstyle or skin color. You can start this process from your account page on the "World of Warcraft" website.
Instructions
1. Navigate to the "World of Warcraft" website. Click "Services." Click "Character Customization" on the right side of the screen. Enter your user name and password, and click "Log In."
2. Select the character you wish to change from a male to a female. Click "I Agree" to the terms and conditions.
3. Enter your credit card information. The fee to change a character's gender is $15 as of March 2011. Click "OK." You will need to wait 30 minutes before you log back in to "World of Warcraft."
4. Launch "World of Warcraft." Next to your character's name on the character select screen will be a red box with an arrow in it. Click that box to be taken to the character customization screen.
5. Change your character's gender by clicking the female icon on the left side of the screen. While here, you may change any other features of your character, such as her hairstyle, face or name. Click "Accept" when finished. Your avatar has now been permanently transformed from a male to a female.
