Make a Homemade Voodoo Doll
Voodoo dolls have been around for many centuries and are surrounded by a unique mystery that both frightens and fascinates many. You don't have to be a witchdoctor to have a voodoo doll of your very own. All it takes is a few simple materials and a little time and effort to create your own personal voodoo doll.
Instructions
Make a Homemade Voodoo Doll
1. Tie two very thick sticks together in the shape of a cross. Wrap the string several times to reinforce the point where the two sticks intersect and make a very tight knot to finish it off.
2. Wrap the sticks in Spanish Moss. Start in the middle and work your way up and down the sticks until you have completely covered all them with the Spanish Moss. You want to use Spanish Moss that's connected in long strands. Have enough on hand to wrap the sticks many times over, creating a thick clump around the sticks. Wrap the Spanish Moss very tight.
3. Wrap the strip of fabric around the Spanish Moss. Use any color or style of fabric you like. Cover all of the Spanish Moss except for a portion you'll leave sticking from the top for hair and a little sticking out on each of the hands and feet. Use glue to secure the fabric in place. Glue your various colored scraps onto the doll to finish the clothing.
4. Glue the beads on the voodoo doll for eyes, glue the button on the voodoo doll for a nose, and glue a piece of pipe cleaner on the voodoo doll for a mouth.
5. Add the seven colored pins, each of which represents something in voodoo lore, and your voodoo doll is finished. You can dress him or her up with colorful feathers glued to the head or by draping the voodoo doll with colorful beads.
