Make Fuzzy Pals

Going back to school can be intimidating for older children, but even more so for younger ones, especially if they are only just starting school. It can be stressful to spend for an entire school day in an unfamiliar environment. To help ease some of their anxiety while giving them a chance to begin making friends, provide them with a cute conversation starter: a fuzzy buddy. Follow the simple steps below to make your child a fuzzy buddy--or two or three …

Instructions

1. Trace one of the foam circles onto the cardboard. Cut it out, cutting along the inside of the circle. Cutting it this way will help ensure that the cardboard piece will be slightly smaller than the foam circle.

2. Use the scissors, a pen or an ice pick to poke a hole in the center of the cardboard circle.

3. Cut off a length of jewelry cord, approximately 12 inches long. Thread one end of the cord through the hole in the cardboard circle, then pull the two ends of the cord together and tie to a keychain or a backpack.

4. Using the craft glue, glue both foam circles to either side of the cardboard circle, covering the hole and jewelry cord between them. Line up the circles carefully so that their edges are aligned with each other. Press the two foam circles closely together, particularly around the edges, to form a firmer bond.

5. Create your fuzzy buddy's face. Glue a pair of wiggly eyes onto the front of the foam circle. Next, glue on a colorful miniature fuzzy ball for a cute nose. Glue 1-inch to 2-inch piece of feather boa to the "head" of the foam circle, attaching it along the rim, right above the eyes.

6. Leave the fuzzy buddy sitting in an open space with plenty of air flow to enable it to dry much faster.
