Red-colored Hat Society Hands Crafts

The RHS founder is Sue Ellen Cooper, the "Most Exalted Queen Mother."

The Red Hat Society (RHS), launched in 1998, offers an international sisterhood with a mission that promotes friendship and fun. Members, aged 50 and above don their red hats and purple outfits for chapter activities. The Activities Collection Webpage available to current members lists many crafts that emphasize the red and purple color themes.

Create a Calendar

A personalized photo calendar lets each chapter member or past activity become the star of the month. At a photo shoot, each Red Hatter wears her full regalia: purple outfit and red hat. Digital photos prints are affixed to decorative paper with a calendar page. The year's pages are bound with ribbons or decorative cord to allow pages to flip to a new month. Other theme options include holidays or members' birthday months.

Decorated Flower Pots

Materials for a red hat plant stick include craft foam in red and purple colors, purple feather, craft sticks and glue. The red craft foam is cut into a miniature hat. A strip of purple craft foam and a feather trim the hat. Glue fastens the hat to a craft stick. These red hat sticks can team with a flower in a seedling pot wrapped with a circle of purple fabric or purple netting.

Decorative Wreaths

An inexpensive plain wreath forms the base for a Red Hat Society theme. Purple or red ribbons plus a Hatter's accessories, such as gloves, small purses, or costume jewelry can adorn this wreath. Other options include a nature theme with imitation purple flowers or a red cardinal for splashes of color. Another embellishment can include the kazoo, the society's official musical instrument.
