Remove blood stains from a pillow case before placing in the dryer.
Removing blood spots from fabric, such as a pillow case, requires a period of soaking to allow the particles to break down. Once the blood has disintegrated, the removal process can begin. Trying to launder the fabric before the blood has a chance to dissolve, may require several attempts of washing before the stain lifts. With the proper techniques, you can rid your pillow case of a blood spot.
Instructions
1. Run cold water over the blood stain on the pillow case. Rub the stain gently with the tips of your fingers to help loosen the blood.
2. Fill a bucket with cold water and 1 tsp. dish-washing detergent. Place the blood-stained pillow case into the water and allow it to soak overnight.
3. Remove the pillow case from the bucket and rinse the stain with cold water. Spray a stain remover over the remaining blood.
4. Launder the pillow case in cold water and 1 tsp. heavy-duty laundry detergent. Inspect the stain after washing. If the stain remains, mix 1 tsp. baking soda with 2 tsp. water to make a paste.
5. Apply the paste to the remaining stain, rubbing it gently into the fabric. Wipe the paste from the pillow case with a damp cloth. Launder the pillow case again with laundry detergent and cold water.
