Turning 18 is an important event and deserves notice.
Turning 18 is a major milestone in anyone's life, and it should be commemorated in a special and memorable way. Young adults usually get into the spirit of the party and play the games with a lot of enthusiasm. The main idea of an 18th birthday party is to bring a group of friends together to celebrate the big event.
Memory Lane
Collect photos of the guest of honor depicting her at all different ages. Be sure to include events such as her first birthday, first day of school and any other firsts you can. Decorate the party room with as many of these photos as possible. Place props around the room to enhance the memory-lane concept, such as toys popular when she was younger, old board games and dolls or action figures. Play the soundtrack from her favorite movie she enjoyed when very young---or play tapes or DVDs of old favorite TV shows. Have each guest create a memory page including a photo of himself. Collect them all into a scrapbook to give her a lasting memory of her 18th birthday.
Fumble Fingers
Fumble Fingers (FF) is a good ice-breaker party game. FF works with any theme and is sure to get the group laughing. Collect two sets of 12 items hard to hang on to when wearing gloves, such as slime, a kernel of popcorn, a toothpick and a feather. Place each set on opposite sides of a table and have all players put on large garden gloves. Divide the group into two teams and have them form two lines, with the head by the group of items and the end of the line by a table or chair where the passed items can be placed. At the shout of "Go!" the first player on each team picks up an item and hands it to the next person in line, who passes it to the next one, and on down the line until the item reaches the last player. Anything dropped or spilled must go back to the table and start over. The first team to pass everything to the other end wins.
Luau
Throw a big luau for your 18-year-old's birthday. Decorate the party area with tropical flowers, colorful plastic fish, a fishing net, fishing floats, tiki torches (outside), paper palm trees and other tropical items. Plan party games that go along with this theme, such as the limbo, a hula hoop contest and pin the coconut on the palm tree. Ask the guests to wear colorful "Aloha shirts," flowered dresses or whatever they have that fits the theme. Serve plenty of fresh fruit, pork, chicken, shih-ka-bobs---and don't forget the pineapple.
