Use Resin Incense
Resin incense has been used for many years in various parts of the world, particularly for religious and spiritual ceremony and practice. It is sometimes burned in homes, or in mosques, churches, temples and other places of worship. If you want to incorporate the practice into your personal or church life, it is easy to learn use resin incense yourself. Even if you just enjoy the scent, it can be done at home safely and easily.
Instructions
1. Pour a one-inch layer of sand into your incense burner. The incense burner should have three legs to keep it from burning the surface underneath, and to be more traditionally accurate.
2. Light the taper candle.
3. Use the lit candle to light a charcoal tablet. Hold the charcoal over the flame with tweezers until it glows. You can also light the charcoal directly with a match or lighter but sometimes the candle method is easier because it can take a while for the charcoal to get going.
4. Set the charcoal in the sand in your incense burner with the tweezers.
5. Fan the charcoal with a feather until it glows steadily without crackling. You can blow on it or use something else to fan it, but the feather is traditional.
6. Set the incense on top of the charcoal. The tablet may have a small indentation on top for this purpose. Now the resin will begin to burn and let off its scent.
