Feather Table Focal point Ideas

Peacock feathers

Feather centerpieces add a glamorous and exotic feel to a party or wedding. Ostrich plumes are a popular choice, because they can be dyed any color to match a theme. Peacock and pheasant feathers are popular as well, but any feather can be used depending on the look and theme for your event. Choose anything you like because they all work.

Bouquets

Feathers make a gorgeous addition to a flower bouquet. If you have white flowers, try using white feathers for a wedding, or colored feathers to add a punch of your theme color for a wedding or party. The feathers do not have to match the flowers--an eclectic mix of exotic flowers and feathers works just as well as a perfectly coordinated bouquet. Peonies and orchids are a good place to start if you aren't sure what flowers to try.

Trees

For a touch of old Hollywood glamour, try the classic ostrich-feather-tree centerpiece. It can be made by wrapping tulle or other sheer fabric around a tall vase. Place small floral lights, such as Instalytes, inside a tall vase, and fill the top with tall ostrich plumes. The final effect is like a lighted palm tree rising from the center of the table. Make this as tall as you like--the taller you make it, the more dramatic the effect will be.

Vases

Plain vases with feathers are another option for centerpieces. A simple clear glass vase in a modern style with one, three or five feathers makes for understated glamour that fits any scene. Remember that groups of three or five tend to be the most appealing to the human eye. Mix it up by using colored vases or put stones or glass beads in the bottom of the vase before adding your feathers.

Get Creative

Don't hold back when working with feathers. The best thing you can do is experiment with materials until you get what you like. Feather centerpieces are meant to have an unusual, festive appeal, so there is no need to worry about doing them the "proper" way. If you have an idea, give it a try.
