Sun Conures are found in most of South and Central America. In the wild, they live in groups of 20 or more. Their diet consists of various seeds, fruits and insects. They are friendly, peaceful animals. They rarely fight with each other. The birds are easily tamed and very entertaining. Sun Conures make excellent pets because of their good nature and personalities. They can live up to 15 years. This means they can provide good company or a good breeding source for many years. The color of their feathers will be able to give away just how old they are.
Instructions
1. Look at the Sun Conure's feathers. If he is only a baby, the color of the feathers will be mostly olive green.
2. Observe the feathers as they change colors throughout your bird's life. Changes from olive green to yellow-orange hues means that your Sun Conure is now around six months old.
3. Know that when the Sun Conure has it's full color, this means she is approximately 1 year old and has reached maturity. Her feathers will become a rainbow of yellow, red, orange, green and blue. This will include her wings and tail, which range from a dark blue to a green color. Her eyes will be gray and both the beak and feet are always black. She will have white patches around each eye.
