Fix Faux Fur Within The Hood Of The Jacket Once It Has Been Cleaned

Faux fur can be easily damaged in the washing machine or dryer.

Faux fur, despite its more affordable nature, is still a delicate fabric, with specific care requirements. Many people have made the mistake of placing faux fur hood linings in the dryer, where the heat has reworked the texture of the fibers. While you will never be able to recreate the store-bought texture of the hood, you can clean, condition and brush the faux fur hood lining to create a soft texture.

Instructions

1. Remove the faux fur lining, if possible, from the jacket. Mix a solution of mild detergent and warm water together. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and apply to the hood lining. Gently clean off the entire surface of the faux fur to prepare it for the brushing process. Use gentle circular motions to remove any residue.

2. Use a clean cloth dipped in plain water to remove the detergent. Allow the faux fur lining to dry completely.

3. Brush the faux fur using delicate, slow strokes. Some of the fibers will come out in the brushing process. Be sure not to use fast, hard brush strokes, which will damage the faux fur.

4. Prepare a spray bottle by filling it with water and just a couple drops of liquid fabric softener. Spray the faux fur hood lining and allow to dry.
