Line your aisle with a carpet of flower petals.
The bride's walk down the aisle is one of the most important parts of the wedding ceremony, as this procession officially begins the wedding and links the bride and groom. Decorative accents highlight this important walk and add ambiance to the space. Think outside the box and incorporate creative decorations in the aisle to make your wedding ceremony special.
Paper Lanterns
Decorate the aisle with paper lanterns. Paper lanterns are available at a party supply store and come in a variety of colors and sizes. Choose lanterns that are the same size and color, or combine different sized and colored lanterns. Hang the lanterns from the ceiling of the ceremony site, tie them to the sides of the seats that flank the aisle, or both.
Floral-Lined Aisle
Line the aisle of your ceremony with flowers for a romantic look. Fill tall bud vases with individual stems of flowers such as tulips, roses, daisies or lilies. Feature a single type of flower in one color, or set out a combination of flowers in a combination of colors. Set the vases along both sides of the outside edges of the aisle.
Candelabras
Candles will also help to set a romantic tone for your wedding ceremony. Set tall candelabras at either side of the beginning and end of the aisle, or arrange several of them along the length of the aisle on either side. Candelabras come in a variety of shapes and sizes and have different types of metal finishes, including gold, bronze, silver and wrought iron. Display different sized taper candles or candles that are all the same size.
Photographs
Photographs add an unexpected yet personalized touch to your wedding ceremony. Display photos that document the history of your and your fiance's relationship, or photos that you simply love. Place the photos in frames that suit your taste and tie them to the end of the seats that flank the aisle with ribbons. Black-and-white or sepia photos add timeless elegance to the display.
Feathers
For a playful look, decorate the ceremony aisle with feathers. Drape feather boas along the end of the seats that run next to the aisle, linking the seats together. Tie feathers to lengths of filament and hang them from the ceiling of the space to create a look of floating feathers. Fill urns with tall plumes of colorful flowers and set them on the floor along either side of the aisle.
Runner and Petals
Create a romantic setting on the floor of the aisle that features a personalized touch. Have a runner made to feature the last initial of the groom, or the monogram of the bride and groom. Place the runner along the floor of the aisle and cover either side of the runner with flower petals, creating a flower petal boarder. Choose a single color for the flower petals, or choose a combination of colors.
Crystal Trees
Bring a "Midsummer Night's Dream" vibe to your ceremony with trees decorated with crystals. Arrange tree branches in large decorative urns and hang strings of crystals off of them. Add strands of lights to the arrangements, which will make the crystals glitter when illuminated. Place the urns along the edges of the aisle, or place one on either side of the beginning and end of the aisle.
