Sterling silver jewelry is considered fine jewelry. Dream catchers are popular design based on Native American culture. A dream catcher hung over a sleeping person is said to catch bad dreams in its web. Sterling silver dream catcher earrings are meaningful and stylish. You could buy dream catcher earrings for $10 to $20 a pair or you could make several pairs of them yourself for the cost of the supplies.
Instructions
1. Cut a piece of sterling silver wire 16 inches long for each of the two large sterling silver rings. Apply a dot of jewelry adhesive to the top center of the front of the ring. Wrap the end of the wire around the spot of adhesive three to four times. Hold in place 30 seconds. Do the same for the medium and small rings and set aside.
2. Take one of the large rings and pull the wire from the top of the ring straight down to the bottom. Apply a drop of jewelry adhesive to the center front of the bottom of the ring. Wrap the wire three to four times over the adhesive. Hold in place 30 seconds. Do this for all of the rings.
3. Apply a drop of jewelry adhesive to the front center of the left side of the large ring. Wrap the wire around the ring until you reach the center left of the ring. Wrap the wire around the ring, over the adhesive three to four times. Hold for 30 seconds. Do this for all rings.
4. Wrap the wire around the sterling silver ring from the left center to the top and then down to the center right of the ring. Apply a drop of jewelry adhesive to the front of the right center of the ring. Wrap the wire around the ring, over the adhesive three to four times. Do this for all rings.
5. Wrap the sterling silver wire around the sterling silver ring from the center right of the ring down to the bottom. Apply a drop of adhesive to the back side of the ring. Wrap the wire around the ring twice, making sure to end on the back side of the ring. Hold the wire in the adhesive for 30 seconds. Cut the wire. What you have at this point are six rings with wire crosses in them.
6. Turn each ring so that the cross becomes an "X." Apply jewelry adhesive to the back side of the top center of the ring. Wrap the wire around the ring over the adhesive two times. Hold in place for 30 seconds. Pull the wire straight down, apply a drop of adhesive to the center bottom of the backside of the ring. Wrap the wire around the ring, over the adhesive twice. Cut the wire. Do the same from right to left.
7. Bend the end of the wire over 1/8 inch. Hook the end of the wire in the center of the ring where the wires all meet, from front to back so that the end of the wire shows on the backside and not the front. Weave the wire in an outward circle, spiraling through the wires until you reach the outer ring. Place beads on the wire as you spiral it if desired. Apply a drop of jewelry adhesive to the back side of the ring where the wire ends. Wrap the wire around the ring, over the adhesive three times. Hold in place 30 seconds.
8. Open your sterling silver jump rings using a small pair of padded pliers. Attach sterling silver earring hooks to the small rings, at the tops of the rings, using one jump ring per sterling silver ring. Attach the medium sized rings to the bottoms of the small rings using jump rings. Attach the large rings to the bottom of the medium sized rings using jump rings. Enjoy your new sterling silver dream catcher earrings that you made yourself.
