Cheap Wedding Bouquet Ideas

Cheap wedding bouquet ideas help engaged couples save money on a costly wedding element.

Wedding bouquets for the bride and her attendants are very costly when ordered from a professional florist, and the costs mounts if the couple is planning to add corsages, boutonnieres and other floral elements. Cheap wedding bouquet ideas help couples cut down on wedding costs, so they can start out their new life together without massive florist debt. A low-cost, affordable bouquet may look every bit as beautiful as a pricier florist creation.

Paper Flowers

Use crepe paper to create colorful, delicate flowers that look as pretty as the real thing. Standard green floral tape may be used to create fake stems. Cut petals out individually and use glue and tape to secure them into a flower shape at the top of stems. Gently stretch paper at the edges to make the petals look ruffled; this is a good technique for carnation and flowers with similar petals. You may also curl and bend crepe paper petals to resemble true petal shapes.

Minimalize

Real flowers aren't out of the question, even when the wedding budget is tight. To save money on bridal party bouquets, go for a more dramatic, minimalized look. Have the bridesmaids and bride carry a single, perfect blossom rather than a full bouquet. The simple, single-flower bouquet may be dressed with a single ribbon to incorporate the colors of the wedding.

DIY Bouquet

Create a cheap wedding bouquet by cutting the florist out of the picture completely. A single bouquet may use 10 to 40 flowers, depending upon the size of the blooms. To assemble a bouquet, you will need straight pins, 1- to 3-inch ribbon and sharp scissors. Strip the stems of leaves and thorns, snip the ends off to the desired length and wrap with a ribbon. Place pins around the ribbon to hold it and the stems in place, and you're done. Add Styrofoam and floral wire as needed to create a specific shape to the bouquet.

Non-Flower Bouquets

Bouquets that don't use any flowers at all are a growing wedding trend, and a good alternative for the bride who's planning on a budget. Create a colorful, unique bouquet using feathers and decorative beads rather than traditional flowers. You can purchase both items in a variety of colors and sizes from craft stores, and they may be much more affordable than garden flowers.
