Create A Bird Mask For A Kid

Although you can usually find any type of mask online or at a costuming store, pre-made masks like these can be costly. To save money, and to enable you to have a bird mask with your own personal touch, you can create a bird mask right at home. All of the necessary supplies you will need to make a bird mask can be purchased at any crafting or arts supply store.

Instructions

1. You can use as many feathers as you want on your bird mask.

Place a blank face mask onto a flat surface. Place your feathers next to the mask. Squirt glue onto the entire front side of the face mask. Use your finger to spread the glue around the mask in a thick layer. Place feathers around the entire outside edge of the mask, with the pointed end of the feathers pointing inward. Squeeze a thin line of glue all along the pointed ends. Place feathers on top of the first row of feathers, in another circuit around the mask. Continue to apply feathers to the mask in this pattern until the entire mask is covered.

2. Use scissors to cut out the beak shape.

Cut out a large triangle from orange construction paper, roughly 8 inches long and 6 inches wide. Fold the triangle in half lengthwise, but only gently press the seams.

3. Add a beak to the mask using colored paper.

Apply a line of glue to the nose area of the mask, and carefully press the folded triangle underneath the nose area. Hold the folded triangle in place until the glue holds it there independently.

4. Adding sequins will give your mask a finished look.

Squeeze a line of glue around the eye holes, and carefully place sequins on top of the glue. Squeeze a line of glue around the area where the beak meets the mask, and place sequins on top of the glue, effectively disguising this demarcation line. Wait until the glue completely dries before wearing the mask.
